Overview

The beautiful Himalayan ranges provide an incredible variety of unmatched whitewater challenges for both rafters and kayakers. No other country in the world has such a choice of trips on wild rivers with warm water, a subtropical climate and white sand beaches The country’s rivers surrounded by the mountain scenery, flora and fauna and the unique cultural heritage of the local people, make Nepal the river runner’s paradise.  All the rafting trips depart from Kathmandu. Listed below are some of the river rafting trips that High Mountain Himalaya Treks Expedition organize  on a regular basis under the care of our experienced rafting guides who have had extensive training on CPR, wilderness first aid and safety. Anyone who is in reasonable physical shape and isn’t afraid of water can safely go rafting on rivers with grading ranging from three to five.

Best Time for Rafting

From late February through to early April is also a good time for river running – river levels are reliably low, air temperature warm, rivers warm and blue. We can organize rafting trips even in the Christmas and Easter holidays in Nepal.

The winter months from late December through to early February are cold, but skies are still clear and river levels will remain low. Lots of river running groups come out over Christmas and have a great time, but you certainly should expect cold water and perhaps think in terms of wet suits and dry tops.
