Trekking in the Everest region offers the most popular and classic trekking trails in the world since travelers wish to make a trip to the highest point of the earth- Mt. Everest. Everest region is located in the north-east of the country in the Khumbu region, home to the legendary and friendly Sherpa, one of the ethnic groups of people, who have earned their name and fame in the tourism sector especially in mountaineering.

Everest is known as Sagarmatha in Nepali and Chomolungma in the Tibetan language, and this great mountain lies between Tibet and Nepal border. It is enlisted in the World Heritage Site by UNESCO. For some trekkers, the Everest region is considered to be challenging due to several ascents and descents and the problem associated with Altitude Mountain Sickness (AMS). The places to explore here include Gorak Shep and Kala Patthar, the Cho La Pass, Gokyo, and its lakes, Gokyo Ri, and the Renjo Pass to the villages of Thame, Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Khumjung, Phakding, and Monjo. From Kala Pattar, you will have breathtaking views of Everest and other satellite peaks.

Trekkers can explore centuries-old Gompa, Monasteries and Mani walls spread all over this region which will make you more spiritual during the journey. Trekking in the Everest region provides an excellent opportunity for hikers to experience Sherpa culture, tradition, and Buddhism.

Trekkers have two options; either they can simply make a trip to Everest to and from Lukla by taking the scenic flight from Kathmandu or overland drive to Jiri from Kathmandu and fly back from Lukla.
