Tamang Heritage Trail is a newly promoted trek in the remote area of the Langtang region. The trail takes you through verdant midlands of Nepal experiencing the beauty of this mountainous region and the culture of the Tamang community who live here. The trail passes through traditional Tamang villages where life, culture, and crafts have remained unchanged since the beginning of the settlement. Warm traditional welcome hosted by the locals, their elaborate costumes, rich architecture of their mountain houses, and the ancient monasteries and places of pray add color to the experience of this trail. In addition to the cultural experience, the trek also offers wilderness experience through beautiful landscapes of alpine terrain, flat meadows, and rhododendron forests.

The trip to Tamang Heritage Trail begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Syabu Besi (about 7-8 hrs), passing through Trisuli Bazaar on the way. At Syabu Besi, you spend the night at a lodge and start the trek early morning next day. It will be a relaxing walk through some truly breathtaking scenery which encompasses terraced paddy fields, charming villages, and serene valleys. If you trek in March-April, you will be amazed at the sight of rhododendron flowers in full bloom. The traditions of the region are pretty much similar to Tibetan culture; in fact, many of the inhabitants of this area have migrated from Kerung in Tibet and many have changed their surname and became Tamang. At Goljung and Gatlang villages you will observe Syabru and Mane local Tamang ethnic dances. In these villages you may also buy some exclusive handicraft items like traditional caps, mufflers and other items. At Tatopani you can enjoy hot bath in the natural hot-water spring. The ancient monasteries and houses adorned with rich wood engravings at Thuman is an unforgettable experience.Being off the beaten track, we offer you home stay facility with local family, basic accommodations and basic Nepali and Tibetan food.
