Langtang – Gosainkund Lake – Sundarijal Trekking is a classic trek to experience the nature, culture, and adventure of the area. Bill Tilman, a famous explorer and climbing partner of Eric Shipton, has described Langtang as one of the world’s most beautiful valleys. The first part of the trek starts at Dhunche and ultimately ends at Sundarijal. The trail passes uphill through forests of pine, bamboo, rhododendron, green pastures and gradually drops down the ridge and arrives at Sundarijal. At Kyanjin Gompa you can spend one extra day for excursion to the glaciers of Mt. Langtang Lirung or ascend to Tsergo Ri (4,984 m) (Tsergo Peak), also visit the Cheese factory and enjoy the panoramic view of the Langtang Himalayan range, Ganesh Himal and many other peaks.

En- route you will back to Thulo Syabru and climb steeply through farmland Shing Gompa (Wood Monastery) and after following the path to the holy Lake Gosainkund which is considered Nepal’s most sought after pilgrimage site. Around Lake Gosainkunda, there are nine other smaller lakes, all of which are surrounded by mountains on all sides. Every year during in August on full moon day (sacred thread ceremony according to Buddhists and Hindus religion) is held in August, hundreds of Buddhists and Hindus pilgrims throng Gosainkund Lake to take a holy bath in the mountain lake. The large rock at the center of the lake is believed to be the remains of a Shiva shrine

After Gosainkunda, you will cross the Laurebina La Pass (4610 m) which is located above the tree line up the ridge. From the pass, you will have an excellent view of the Tibetan plateau and many clustered Himalayan mountain peaks of Nepal that include Langtang, the Annapurna’s, Manaslu, and even Everest if good weather permits. While descending through mountainous terrain you will visit three small settlements between Pati Bhanjyang and Sundarijal, out of which one is found a bunch of prayer flags fluttering in the air. At Sundarijal the trek ends and we will drive you back to Kathmandu. It is just 18 km away from Sundarijal.
