Overview

Mount Himlung (7126 m) is one of the most popular expeditions among the 7000-meter peak in Nepal. It is located in the Manaslu region above the Tibetan-influenced village of ‘Phu’ which is the most isolated area in Nepal, close to the Tibet border. Climbing to Mt. Himlung is considered less technical except for a few short steep sections as compared to other technical trekking peaks of Nepal. However, Himlung climbing requires a high level of fitness.

Chamje is the starting point of the expedition. From Chamje, we start our trek by crossing over a suspension bridge and gently proceed to the village of Tal. Our trail follows the west bank of the river as we approach Dharapani. Then, we continue through the forest section before climbing to the stone huts until we arrive at Kyang. The trail winds around and above a deep gorge before descending down to the village of Phu village. Here we will spend a day for excursion and exploration around fascinating monasteries and traditional village streets.

From Phu, we will follow the trail that leads to Himlung Base Camp, located at the upper end of one of the pastures belonging to Phu village. Once at the base camp our Sherpa crew will make necessary preparations for setting up additional camps above base camp for successful summit climb of Himlung. Following the guidance and instructions of our experienced climbing experts, we will spend several days ascending and descending between the higher camps before finally heading towards the summit of Himlung. After reaching the summit we enjoy the stunning views of the Manaslu range, Annapurna range, and other surrounding snow-capped peaks. After spending quality time at the summit, we descend following the same route back to base camp. Having achieved our target summit of Himlung, we will retrace our steps following the same trail through Koto, Dharapani to Chamje, and drive back to Kathmandu.
