Cultural Trekking to Annapurna Region…….!

It is a short and easy trek into the Annapurna region designed for trekkers with a limited schedule. Cultural Trek to Annapurna Region offers some wonderful close-up views of the Himalayan mountain range. The trip starts at Phedi after 2 hours drive from Pokhara.

After Phedi, you will begin the trek through patchwork valleys, dense mossy forests, and past waterfalls where you can stop to cool yourself. Around every corner you will be tempted by a tantalizing glimpse of the high mountains, whole horizons will be revealed to you as you slowly ascend the higher elevations. During the hill walk, you pass through different Gurung, Magar, and Brahmin villages where you get an insight into their diverse cultural and social practices. In a short period, you can experience the colorful culture of the local people and find how Buddhist and Hindu people are living in harmony and peace.

All the way you follow the Modi gorge valley through rhododendron and orchid forest and reach a culturally rich village called Pothana where Gurung ethnic community is inhabited in the majority. During the trek, you can see the panoramic views of Mt. Machapuchhre (fishtail), Annapurna South, Lamjung Himal, Hiunchuli (6441m), and Dhaulagiri more distinctly if weather permits. On an excursion around the village, you will have an opportunity to watch the daily activities of the villagers from milking the buffaloes to their daily chores on the farms. After Pothana village you will walk further uphill to another village called Ghandruk village in Nepal where you will find the same Gurung ethnic community who is known as ‘Gurkhas‘. They have a glorious history created in the Second World War. Here, you will see how the traditional houses with stone roofs have been preserved till today and during your stay in the village, you can visit the local museum.
