Manaslu Circuit Trekking is considered the best hike in Nepal with mesmerizing Mountain vistas of the Ganesh and Manaslu Himalayan ranges and to explore the ethnic cultures and traditional lifestyle of mountain people perhaps not found on any other trekking regions. The trekking route circumnavigates the World’s eighth highest peak, Manaslu(8,163 m). Manaslu region is officially opened to trekkers in 1991 and getting much popular for trekking these days.
It is a stunning trek starting in the rural town of Arughat (500 m). A bumpy jeep ride on mud and rock-laden tracks from Dhadingbesi up to Arughat is a wonderful experience. The trail follows through the bank of the roaring Budi Gandaki river and passes along mid-hills and finally emerges into the high, arid desert region that is a part of the Tibetan Plateau where people of Tibetan origin dwell and where the predominant religion-Tibetan Buddhism (Bon Po) still exists. On the way, there are many countless beautiful waterfalls are seen, some wonderful protected Buddhist monasteries, soaring white peaks and glaciers, and beautiful rhododendrons in full bloom (especially in the spring season).
Manaslu Circuit trek is challenging while crossing the Larkya La Pass which requires excellent physical stamina. There are many ascents and descents along the trail up to the base camp of Mt. Manaslu. Crossing Larkya La pass(5106m) is truly challenging and ecstasy that you gain out of panoramic mountain vista including Manaslu, Himlung and other peaks is an unforgettable and lifetime experience. In Sama village, you take an extra day to acclimatize and explore Sama gaon monastery, or if you are energetic you may hike to the base camp of the 8th highest mountain and a beautiful glacier lake.
Being a government-controlled area; the Manaslu region needs a special trekking permit to organize trekking. Only limited numbers of tourists are allowed to visit this region every year. To complete the Manaslu circuit trekking, one should be fit to properly acclimatize with higher altitudes and to cross high passes.
