Q1. What is  homestay? 

A homestay provides an opportunity to stay with a local family charging a certain cost. It’s an affordable accommodation alternative, ideal for independent leisure travelers of all ages, interns, gap year students, students living abroad and anyone seeking a real and genuine travel experience. It allows them to experience the local community and culture of the place they’re visiting.

Q2. Why is homestay important?

It gives you a glimpse into life in rural Nepal and allows you to experience the culture in a meaningful way while building real relationships with community members. In Nepal, most of the homestays are run by women. So when you stay with them, you help them to become more financially independent.

Q3. How do you help the local communities in homestays?

The money you spend on a homestay means you are empowering the homestay families by helping them obtain a steady stream of income. The more you visit and stay with the local communities, the more they are able to build their villages/towns into a richer, more flourishing destination. You get to have a terrific trip all while helping the locals live better lives as well.

Q4. Can I learn Nepali cooking class at homestay in Nepal? 
Not all homestays offer you Nepali cooking classes, except in the private urban homestays. Only a handful of homestays offer you such private classes. Furthermore, you will have lots of opportunities to learn Nepali cooking by being in homestays.

Q5. What other benefits do I get in homestays?

You can attend the local festivals and events if you’re lucky enough to visit at the right time! You get to learn all about their rituals and be part of it yourself which is so much more fun and exciting than simply reading about it in a travel guide and watching from afar. There’s so much you can learn about their celebrations and traditions when you go to a homestay .It makes the experience all richer.

Q6. Does the homestays fee have any insurance included in it? Do I have to provide my own, if so, what do I need to have covered?
There is no insurance and so we recommend that you get your own travel medical insurance to protect yourself in case of illness or lost or damaged property

Q7. What is the mode of payment?
We accept all major credit cards like VISA Card and Mastercard. You can also pay through Western Union Money Transfer or PayPal or Direct Bank Transfer or you can pay hard cash.

Q8. I can’t speak Nepali well. Will that be a big problem?
No, it won’t be a problem since your host family understands the Basic English language. Besides, with your host family you learn the basic Nepali, most important phrases that a local uses on a day-to-day basis.

Q9. I’m not comfortable with eating some food. Will that be a problem?
No problem. Please let us know what food you want to have and what you do not. Your host family will prepare both veg. and non-veg. items.
