Saribung Peak (6,328 m) is a newly opened trekking peak in Nepal. It is located in the remote corner of the Mustang district near the Damodar Himalaya, close to the Nepal–Tibet border. Only very few climbers have attempted to summit this peak. The trails are rugged, cutting high into cliff sides and pass villages that have changed little over the centuries.

The trip begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara, and the next day morning makes a flight to Jomsom, Mustang’s District Headquarters and from Jomsom, we begin our trek same day to Kagbeni, Chele, Geling, Tsarang, Lo Manthang, Dhi Gaon, Luri Gomba, Ghuma Tanti, Namta Khola and finally step foot at Saribung base camp, where you will have complete rest for one day for acclimatization. Next day morning you will climb to the peak and enjoy the views from the summit. After the summit, you will retrace back to the Saribung base camp and descend to Phu and Nar villages until you reach Bulbule and then drive back to Kathmandu.

Technically, Saribung Peak is not challenging to climb but physical fitness is a must, as there are some high mountains passes that need to cross. Saribung Peak Climbing would be ideal for those who wish to explore off the beaten track amidst the natural wilderness.

Day 04: Fly from Pokhara to Jomsom & trek to Kagbeni (2,810 m)
Day 05-: 08: Trek to Lo-Manthang (3,810 m)
Day 08: Trek to Lo-Manthang (3,810 m)
Day 09: You can choose either excursion around Lo-Manthang or Chhoser. At Chhoser you can visit many caves & cave monasteries.
Day 10: Trek to Yara (3,900 m)
Day 11: Trek to Luri Cave Gompa (4,005 m)
Day 12- 13: Trek to Namta Khola (4,890 m)
Day 14: Trek to Saribung Base Camp (4,950 m) & Prayer Puja day for the Summit at Saribung Peak BC
Day 15: Rest & acclimatization at Saribung Peak BC
Day 16: Trek to Camp I (5,730 m)
Day 17: Climb & Summit Saribung Peak (6,328 m) and back to Base Camp

What is Peak Climbing?

Peak climbing refers to a mountain or hill peak needs to be ascended by climbing. It takes just one or two days to summit the peak. We set our camp at base camp and climb during preferable time continuously to summit and back. Altitude is in between 5000m to 7000m.

How difficult is climbing a peak in Nepal?

Difficulty in peak climbing depends on which peak you are climbing. There are very easy to technical and challenging trekking peaks available in Nepal. Any participants with the good mindset, positive attitude and good physical strength can easily attempt to climb any peak with the support of a climbing Sherpa guide.

How long does it take to complete trekking peak?

It is the location of the peak that takes time to complete climbing of a trekking peak. It takes just about a day and sometimes it takes more depending on weather condition, your physical fitness level and the altitude of the peak.

Do I need to hire a guide for a climb?

Yes, you need to have a guide and a porter for your own safety. Recently Government of Nepal implements a regulation to take at least a certified person engaged in trekking and tourist field for trekking but for the peak trekking you must have a guide or Sherpa with their authorized license for climbing or guiding

What are documents and permits required for climbing a peak?

Participants are required to have a peak permit that can be obtained from Nepal Mountaineering Association. The permit fee differs with the season and also you must pay national park and conservation area fees depending on the location of the peak.

Can I buy my equipment in Nepal? What is the equipment list?

We recommend you buy all the required equipment with the help of your guide on your preparation day in Kathmandu for peak climbing, It helps to save your money and you will be buying only a necessary equipment. Check our checklist for the list of equipment required for peak climbing.

What level of experience is required to climb a trekking peak?

We highly recommend you taking certain physical exercises before climbing that help to improve your cardiovascular muscles. Pre-preparation gives good condition to your body and legs to climb. Exercises like running, swimming, short hiking, stairs climbing make a great difference rather than just climbing a peak without physical exercises.

Can I climb a trekking peak alone?

No, you cannot climb a Trekking peak alone due to safety reason. Safety is our first priority. In the mountain weather can change at any time. Extreme weather conditions like wind and cold as well as the technical difficulties requires an assistance of a government certified Sherpa guide for climbing.

What is the best season for trekking peak?

The best season for trekking peak climbing is in September and October (Autumn) and March April and May (Spring)
