Lhotse is the world’s fourth-highest mountain with an altitude of 8,516m / 27,940ft. It is situated on the Nepal-Tibet border. Its long east-west crest is located just south of Everest, and the summits of the two mountains are connected by the South Col, a vertical ridge that never drops below 8,000 m. Expedition to Mt. Lhotse is designed only for those professional climbers who have previously climbed Mt. Everest. As the couloir is very narrow, varies in width, and has a chance of rock falling on the route, we only organize Lhotse Expedition for very small group size (maximum 8 Members).
There are three Lhotse summits– Lhotse Shar (8,400 m), Lhotse East (8,414 m), and Lhotse West (8,516 m), out of which Lhotse West is listed in eight-thousanders list and its route to the summit is easier and normal.
We begin the Lhotse expedition after a scenic flight to Lukla, following the Everest base camp route. We set up our base camp beside the Khumbu Glacier same as the base camp of Everest. The first ascent of Lhotse massif was accomplished successfully in 1956 by the Swiss via the West Face. The South Face though attempted many times got successfully climbed only in 1984 by a Czech expedition team.
One can also directly summit to Lhotse after attempting summit to Everest. If anyone wants to climb Everest and Lhotse both in the same season can attempt two 8,000-meter peaks (the world’s highest and fourth-highest mountains) less than 24 hours from one summit to another summit. It could be an amazing opportunity for the motivated climber to summit both these peaks with the best logistical support from High Mountain Himalaya Treks & Expedition. We will do all necessary paper works for the expedition permit; organize all accommodations before and after the expedition. We organize camp facilities, transport luggage, and set up high camps, fix ropes, provide food, high altitude food, high-quality tents, porters, professional Climbing Sherpas, oxygen, satellite telephone, Waki Talkie set, advice, and logistical support.
